I have found that I often have to remount volumes a second and sometimes
third time when the AMA files go offline when I am ready to retranscode at
a finishing resolution. This a slow and laborious effort because for a 40
minute or so sequence, it is a lot of AMA linked files clogging the system.
Also, relinking to AMA only seems to work with QT files, for instance if
you relink an .MTS file that is spanned and you relink to just one file, it
does not pull in all of the spanned clips, likewise, if you link to all of
those .MTS files think that will make your original AMA clip come back
online, you end up with a bunch of parts to spanned clips and the original
is still offline. Interesting as well is that I have had to "re-transcode"
a good number of clips, then relink the original transcodes to the new
media (which it does very happily), but often, the new transcodes will go
mysteriously offline and at that point, I need to open the bin the
transcode clip is in, and if it pops online magically, all is fine, other
wise, I have to relink, and thankfully I know which drive it is on. Yes,
AMA is not as robust as MXF...but it should be.
