[Avid-L2] Re: Where do I find the current versioner.avd file?

John et all.....

If your system is covered by support then you would download the Flexversioner file located within the editing app folder. Flexversioner if for 6/10 and higher whereas versioner is for 5.5/9.5 and lower.

I looked at your system ID and dongle ID last week and you should be able to upgrade that pair. Thats what you asked anyway. If now you are wondering if that system ID/dongle ID is covered on support, thats a whole other kettle of fish.

I checked the system ID and dongle ID you sent me last week and it is not covered on support. It use to be but the contract expired Aug 2009.

So this system ID/ dongle ID pair can be upgraded if you buy the pre 5.5 to MC 6 upgrade or $599 or the Symphony 6 upgrade for $999.

Turns out that was a good thing because I later learned that even though we had valid support when V4 came out once we were no longer under support I would not have been able to blast the dongle to V4 even though we had valid support when it came out. Use it or lose it approach. Glad I decided to blast when I did. I thought the versioner was for the entire avid world not just support contract holders but I'd love to here from an Avid person what the policy is for sure.
