No advantage. In fact I'd say there's a significant disadvantage of one
extra piece of hardware, an extra cable and two extra connections that
could cause a fault..
Only real advantage might be if you wanted to move recorder away from
camera to 'video village' for example - you can reliably run an SDI cable
over a distance. HDMI, not so much.
