Re: [Avid-L2] About that Symphony upgrade...

While the most recent MC and Symphony upgrade cost were the same, in the past they were higher, which caused an uproar by Symphony owners, since there wasn't anything new being added to Symphony. Avid did the right thing by making both upgrade costs the same. I don't remember when this changed. Think it was fairly recently though.

My hope is, by doing this deal - the limited time $995 crossgrade, Avid is hoping to get more Symphony systems out in the wild, which would help them justify the development costs for creating unique features for Symphony, like the long over due Improvements to the CC. If they do add new features exclusive to Symphony, I would expect to see a different price point for Symphony and MC upgrades. And if these features are something worth while, I wouldn't really have a problem with that.

But, If they did set different price points for Symphony & MC again, without introducing new features for Symphony, then ya, Dylan is right, that would truly be a dick move. I really don't see them doing that.
