Firewire Capture? I don't remember if that deck even has serial control. IIRC there were some capture issues maybe over firewire on various versions and certain 10 bit resolutions but I don't remember the specifics. I don't understand what you mean by, "Speed seems to vary." During capture it is running at play speed I don't see how that could really vary but I might not understand what you are describing.
