[Avid-L2] Re: baselight vs symphony

Understood and agreed.

Apologies for stating the obvious, but I think the big issues in terms of upgrading (not that $1k is all that significant -- but there's no going back to MC if you need to) -- are the following rhetorical questions:

1. Does Avid still have the engineering resources and budget to really properly address Symphony's CC shortcomings?

2. Even with the appropriate resources -- can Avid achieve the level of specialization and focus that products like Baselight and Resolve already have?

3. Going forward, will Symphony's CC receive the attention it will require to evolve and remain feature-competitive?

4. And finally, when will this happen -- especially considering the absolutely dismal level of attention Symphony has received in the past 10 years?

The fact that some of us are considering Resolve (and all that implies: hardware, software, workflow) -- or the Baselight plugin (at the same cost as the Symphony upgrade) as stop-gap measures -- does not seem to suggest that there is a high-level of confidence regarding the timing or execution of a new CC Tool.

Then there were broll shots in between scenes that required adding the "Spot color effect" to isolate areas slowing me WAY down. But I still got 15 minutes of program corrected in less than an hour.
