Capture One is great software for image editing and they also have a digital asset management solution.

I haven't used the asset management, but the Capture One software is phenomenal. This is for real high end professional photographers. Basically the software started out as support for their super-high end digital camera backs for Hasselblad's and the like. Photographers liked the software so much they broke it out and started selling it separate from the hardware. The digital asset management solution was purchased from somebody big, but I can't remember who... sometime last year I think.
