Re: [Avid-L2] Colorista really?

 

Colorista 1...the one you see in Avid, offers superior control over the colors than the 3-way in FCP and the 3-way in Premiere Pro. Affects a smaller range, so when you adjust the lows, you ONLY adjust the lows...or mids...or highlights.  The 3-way in FCP reaches too far into the other ranges and effects them too much.

Also, when making the lows more blue, for example...it makes it DARKER blue.  the 3-way starts to neon-out.

Colorista 2 added great things like secondaries, so we could do Power Windows and select small targetted areas for correction. Also adds an HSL key for fine tuning colors.  Unfortunately, Colorista 2 only works in FCP, Premiere and After Effects. The GUI doesn't work in Avid MC.  We are all pushing for it though...

Colorista 2 does not work in Media Composer - only in FCP, AE and Premiere.

MB Looks, however, does work in MC.
