enabled but no tablet is connected) is indeed a known problem (on Windows)
reported and reproduced @ BorisFX. For now the only known solution is to
disable the driver or connect a wacom tablet. Expect a fix in an update of
AvidFX 6.

will not launch or freeze in the Avid, when the wacom is unplugged from the
system. Avid FX is fine as long as the tablet is present, but remove it and
leave the drivers on, and it fails. I had this issue years ago and the
workaround was to use really old drivers and show the tablet to the system
and then unplug it and it would be stable.

same failure when the tablet is removed, the workaround is working until
you restart the computer. Why can't Avid FX and wacom just get along?
