Ahhhh . . . . OK . . . . so I restarted the system and I did some poking around with the Audio settings, between Alternating and All Tracks Centered . . . not sure if that jogged the behavior at all . . .
Now it WILL Pan mid if I OPT click on the _knob_ (documentation states the display number below the knob... and I did try that earlier as well). . . However, I still can't type in the box, so no possibility of typing a zero.
After selecting the _knob_ I can now use the arrow keys as well (FWIW).
I have a feeling that playing with the Audio settings may have done something, because now when I opt click on the knob it does not pan hard left or right as described previously.
