well, hyperdeck does do DNxHD (although i believe still in beta, and it does
not have decent sound input, so you need an external sound recorder)
Then there is the Sound Devices Pix 240 (at 3 times the price) that does
DNxHD, but still probably cheaper per channel.
The Pix 240 writes the DNxHD in a Qt wrapper, you could fast import it, but
it can also be wrapped in Avid MXF with metadata (no transcoding!) using the
Ingex tools, so it could be done on any computer.
(I could make something for that, tested it already with a sample clip from
Sound Devices.)
These things are made for location use, but i don't see any reason not to
use them in a studio environment.
(Except that it will look a bit silly since they aren't rack mounted...)
Next step up is to use multiple Avids to record, if you can spare them :-)
Now if you have time, you can also use any capture device and transcode,
again using the Ingex stuff.
(The hardware is the difficult part from Ingex, hence Rupert and his boys
stopped selling them turn key, but the transcoding is fairly easy to do.)
IMHO the high end boxes are only needed if you want to be able to edit while
ingesting, otherwise it does not seem cost effective to me.
If you have a long post way to go, i highly suggest you also have a look at
this:

(the demo comes with the Shine logo, as it has been customized to do
Masterchef australia)
