There is fortunately (don't know about the states, but our Royal Mail
don't like us posting fingers). You set the drive up using a bit of
software which you should be able to get from LaCie's website. During
the setup process you have to set a password as well as scanning some
fingers. You can unlock the drive using the setup software and the
password. You do need to know what the password is though, so you'll
probably still have to track down the person who set it up.
