I have similar issues, H.264 (You running 5DMkII footage?) just needs a
machine with lots of processing power to chew the codec over quickly
(http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Avid-L2/message/95843)
I just transcoded what was shot over night to Dnx and there is no fuss.

Is anyone running a machine that will do this seamlessly???

I'm going to upgrade to an Dell Precision M6500 with i7-940XM quad core
and start off with 8gb of RAM to see if that will do the trick (fingers
crossed!) But do Avid 'qualify' anything to AMA H.264 on the fly?

Shame we can't poke Canon to change the video codec in the 5dII to the
one in the XF305.. But then the 5dII's days are probably numbered
anyways with the new Canon C300 and all those toys!

Cheers,

Marcus
