My 4 year old MBP battery was down to about 40 min per charge, before it
swelled up and disabled the trackpad. I understand it is meant to swell as
an alternative to exploding. I'm glad it suffered a catastrophic failure,
because the Apple store replaced it out of warranty without hesitation. If
I just complained about reduced charge, I'm sure I would have been out of
luck.

Apple have replaced my battery twice on a similar model, once within
Applecare and once outside it (nice of them). Had two Superdrives die, also.
