This is only tangentially-related, but I'm cutting now using my MBP and the Thunderbolt connection to a Promise Pegasus RAID's Thunderbolt and it's amazingly fast. Almost feels like fiber. (And I've got the PCI-E Adaptor to the Mojo and HD monitoring working) Of course this is just for "off-line" of a feature but for my needs, it's great.
