Since restoring my computer to the state it was in before a restart was one of my most frustrating experiences, I like the new behavior, but I can understand why some want control.
As for reverse/normal scrolling. Took 3 days to get used to. Life moves on. As to why? So OS X would be natural to iOS users and therefore Windows will be unnatural.
