[Avid-L2] Re: Audio recording software for Avid

Thanks for taking the time to describe your process.

I have just replicated your steps using the Shure X2u: XLR to USB Adapter with my Mojo DX connected to the system.

1. Connected the Shure x2u via USB (no driver necessary)
2. Verified it being seen as the default Windows microphone
3. Capture Tool input switched to Host-1394
4. Toggled decks off (but no deck currently connected to system)
5. Windows Mixer does not appear in Capture Tool > Audio Pulldown menu

Then I repeated the same process with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 USB WebCam -- and a Plantronics USB Headset (neither of which require drivers) with the same results.

My strong suspicion (corroborated by others: http://tinyurl.com/d8es9lj) is that the Mojo DX is the limiting factor -- at least within a W7 environment. From posts on the Avid site, this limitation appears to not be the case within Mac environments.

It would be nice if Avid addressed this issue -- but it's probably pretty low on their ToDo list. Unfortunately, being a PCIe device -- it is not possible to disconnect a Mojo DX without powering down the host computer. And that requirement is simply not a viable workflow during an edit session.

Another doorstop.

But with a quiet room it would be fine for proper VO with a bit of eq and compression applied in Avid.
