RE: [Avid-L2] Re: Export TIFF

Yes I think this is all true. We are doing AMA into avid transcoding into
1:1 RGB. The problem is I want to export as TIFF files and I think the
709/RGB selection in the export dialogue doesn't work and it always gives
you RGB level and not 601/709.

I'm coming in a bit late on this but poking through the posts. - some
comments. Avid 1:1 RGB still uses 709 color space. It says RGB but really
means 4:4:4. The video levels are still 16-235 on an 8-bit scale.

Alexa ProRes QuickTime files are also mapped as 709 color. This is true for
ProRes4444 as well as ProResHQ. The proper way to get these into MC is via
AMA and not through any standard import routine.

There is no way to pass a signal through Avid and out again via QuickTime
and have it be completely transparent. The levels should be close, but they
will never be transparent. Your best bet if things are already trancoded is
to use the Avid codec. One option might be to export with the Avid codec and
then transcode again to a ProRes flavor or an uncompressed 10-bit codec
using QT Player Pro.
