Sony XDCAM Clip Browser software. You'll want version 2.6 which is the latest i think. It's excellent and allows you to add all sorts of metadata before importing as well as telling you loads about the clips you have just shot along with all the usual TC info too. It will also re-build corrupt file structures in case a cameraman decides to do you a favour and move the files about as well as allowing you to export to MXF if you're on an older system or having some sort of AMA crisis:

We're starting a new project and I'm wondering if there's a way to pre-log Sony XDCamEX files in the field?

We work with the media regularly, but not in a high-volume quick turn-around situation, so I've never needed to pre-log material in the field.

Our plan is to copy the SxS cards to a pair of matching hard drives, one coming to post, and one staying with the writer/producer. It would be great if we could add metadata on site before making copies. Is that practical? Can anyone detail a simple workflow they've used?
