Re: [Avid-L2] Non "aluminum" Mac keyboards?

I guess that's a difference between you and me. I don't like to look, and I don't like to aim. You don't look and aim when you type, to you? Before the aluminums, editing was like typing - I never looked, and now I have to.

Enjoy that trackpad. I like it also.

Best,
Shirley

I've had the same issue trying to find the function keys, but I'm over it. I
find myself looking at the row of number keys just below them, and aiming up to
the right to hit the corresponding F key. The numbers are all matched up.

I just started a one day per week gig that has only the old plastic Apple
keyboards, and it's darn difficult to clunk around on those for me know. I love
the full-size aluminum keyboards.

And I'm also editing exclusively with a Magic Trackpad now, and luuuving it. The
occasional producer still gets nervous when they don't hear all that mousy
clack-clacking in their head all day, but they're catching on. Now if I could
just get a couple taildraggers to update their software (and Macs) so I could
use the thing on their machines, I'd be done with mice forever.

Onward!

aluminum keyboard does weird things, like toggle the function I just hit so that
nothing happens. I make more mistakes on it typing too - it's almost TOO
responsive. But the biggest problem I have is that they shrank and squished the
function key row. I'm all over the function key row constantly, whether in FCP
or Avid, and the fact that keys are half sized and crammed together means that I
have to slow down and aim to find any given key. And to me, slowing down is a
form of death. It just can't happen.

halfway between the aluminum and the old keyboards in responsiveness of action,
but I would have my good old function key row back the way it was.
