According to the Avid Version Matrix (excellent tool:
http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=267087) the
supported version for 5.0 onward is QuickTime X - however I believe you can
have QT7 installed alongside X, so you'd probably be able to use the current
QT7 version. But I don't currently use any Mac systems so I can't say for
sure - someone else will be able to tell you if there's any problems having
both installed with Media Composer.
