On Jun 30, 2011, at 11:34 AM, I previously wrote on 3 lists:

I now say:
Well, obviously, I didn't try EVERYTHING. For those of you who had
kindly helped me with this problem, both on-list and privately, I can
report that I have solved the issue using software I already have.
It's actually not so difficult after all. As usual, I was over-
thinking the problem and as I often do, added complications where
there were none. All I had to do was make separate H.264 compressed
video and ac3 audio files with Compressor, name them the same (except
for the file extensions), making sure both are in the same folder,
then drag only the h.264 video file to Toast to make the disc. The
ac3 file was made from the 6 audio channels, each separately exported
from FCP7 with the "Export to AIFF" function. FCP exports the audio
channels numbered according to which timeline track they each came from.
Toast burns the disc automatically and quite nicely. It was so easy,
I've had to virtually head-slap myself repeatedly.
