[Avid-L2] Mac SNDX 4.0.5 hangs on "Managing Macros" during startup?

I've been a newly updated Mac OS 10.5.8, QT 7.6.4, 2xQuadCore 3Ghz  with 4 GB of 800 Mhz DDR2 ram.  For 3 days it occasionally hangs on start up on "Managing Macros" or something macros and sometimes it just vaporizes on startup with a mainthread buss error.  Usually just a force quit and restart works but this morning after someone ran "AppleJack and zapped the Pram I hung at the macros error 4 times in a row even after restarts and then reinstalled the ver. 4.0.5 software and it booted right up.  I then installed the utility programs and got the macro hang on a restart.  I uninstalled SNDX a second time and reinstalled and it booted after a power cycle of the entire system.  This was a nitris dx system before and the owner has sent in the paper work to register the system's new symphony dongle through a transfer of ownership form or whatever it's called.  Currently the system is not registered because after 2 weeks after sending the paper work
the owner hasn't received anything from Avid.  That's not a big issue but could the lack of registration be any part of this intermittent problem.  The Apple Jack and zapping Pram was just done as a routine thing not because of this problem.  Curious what others think.  Once I've got the system booted everything works fine.  Could there be an issue with my order of install?  I seem to recall something about installing the Symphony software before or after the utilities on older versions.  On 5.x and up I just check the additional utilities and they all install at once on mcsoft.  Could the fact that the last thing I did was install SNDX 4.0.5 after I installed the other utilities?  But for 3 days I had the problem intermitently and the utilities hadn't even been installed then.
