Then please enlighten me what finishing is about, as i still fail to see
where the huge amount of data comes from...
(speed i can understand though, but that is hardly a problem nowadays...)

This is for finishing. If we were only working on one project at a time, no
problem with 3TB of storage. Fortunately, that is not the case here.
