I am looking for advice concerning a universal hi-end lossy codec for mastering to. For the moment I have been concentrating my efforts on prores 4444 and some kind of AVI MJPEG yet neither is very universal. Prores can only be encoded on a mac and needs QT. AVI MJPEG seems to have no proper standard and each manufacturer enjoys creating their own version. As the codec war is making choosing codecs that have some sort of future difficult, I was wondering how others are dealing with it?
