My most critical mapping is JKL dropped down to <>?
Then directly above that is Mark In on L and Mark Out on ; and Extend on '
The special trick with this is that automatically that means option-mark in is Go To mark in and option mark out is Go to Mark out and
THen I map Shift-Mark in to be Clear Mark in and Shift-Mark out to be Clear Mark out, so I have six keys under two strokes.
Above that are the four "editing" keys, overwrite, splice, lift and ... whatever those four keys are called. I just hit them.
Just to the left of <>? (my JKL) is the Mark Clip and Clear Mark Clip on shift.
Then there are keys for Audio Mixer, Audio Tool, Remove Effect, Add keyframe, add Locator, Add edit, Matchframe, and multiple types of renders. Not to mention all of the track keys on the number keys and various other, less used keystrokes.
I also have an entirely COLOR CORRECTION keyboard layout that I switch to when doing color correction for any length of time.

Avid has all kinds of patents on parts of the interface that you swear couldn't be patentable, but somehow they have them. I remember one of them was like the triangular shaped play button, or something crazy like that. Lots of the icons and the way the UI works has definitely been patented. Whether lawyers consulted since then have determined that those patents wouldn't hold up is another matter. Actually, I think one of the patents I remember seeing was for the way a cross dissolve was represented in the timeline. >> >> Steve Hullfish >> contributor: www.provideocoalition.com >> >> On Mar 7, 2011, at 4:25 PM, Oliver Peters wrote: >> >>>> Posted by: Philip Hodgetts >>>> Well, technically it was Macromedia that found a way around the dual monitor patent. >>> >>> Are you guys sure there's a patent or even copyright on this?
