We are just going to try out the Matrox mini route and see if there are any
real world gotcha's compared with having a Mojo DX apart from the obvious
one's no SDI in and Out

That's exactly what I've been thinking. I would love to jump on this deal
but keep having the same thoughts. In my work flow it might be better just
investing in a faster MacPro with Matrox Mini.
