[Avid-L2] Re: AMA between mac and PC relinking

Bring all your rushes into Avid 1st with File/Link to AMA into a new bin and then do a relink to AMA of the sequences and clips.

The Link to AMA 1st seems to tell Avid (on PC) where the files are and then it can relink your sequences.
Any files that are stubborn you can right click on the clip and hit relink to AMA media which lets you browse and point to the media.
You are correct though that if the drive letter changes Avid loses the link (sometimes!) Re importing the AMA files (which are only reference files after all) seems to restore the link.

This tutorial for the Boris AAF plugin shows you how to do it:
http://www.borisfx.com/videos/AAF-Transfer/Relink.php

The tutorial suggests that it only works with Apple Prores files but I have tried it with DV and MP4 files and it seems to work fine.

The Boris product is very good as well especially if you have Boris continuum on FCPro and Avid. Seems to be very quick and easy.

Good luck

Nick
