[Avid-L2] FCP chops one frame of Avid exported QT prores 422 HQ clip

So now the Avid export QT in prores 422 HQ seems to round trip through FCP without major level shifts but I noticed all the clips coming back are one frame short.  If I reimport the original Avid exported clip it is the correct length but the clips exported back from FCP are all one frame short.  Even just importing the original Avid exported QT shows a duration 1 frame less than that of the Avid's duration and the timecode which seems to be from the Avid master sequence time code shows one frame less.  WTF?  And while I'm at it what is the purpose of the document file that adds a ".mtdf" extention after the .mov name.  I imported the files into fcp over my ethernet to my MBP.  I assume they are some sort of FCP document storing some meta data that I'll google to find out what's up with that.
