formatting is mislabeled. That sets the RAID stripe interleave size
(whose correct name now escapes me) but the file system " block" size
is still 4K. However, setting the RAID stripe as high as possible may
be better for large media files for the same reason that increasing
block size might be. I'm actually going to run a simple test on an
empty RAID pair today. I'll let you know. Also according to what
I've read, there is no way to set the block size manually in OSX for
HFS+.
