[Avid-L2] Re: MC5 RED AMA to Avid DS - Workflow?

There are two issues at hand here. Sequences containing AMA referenced clips cannot be exported as AAF or AFE. This is a current limitation of AMA at this time. And while a transcode can solve this as a workaround, the second issue is that imports and AMA linked files now have a "Source File" as the means to track them. A lot of work was done in v5 to allow imports and AMA referenced files to behave like their "Tape" brethren allowing the user to modify add, merge, metadata etc. But.. release schedule is slightly off for DS (and other NLE's using AAF) to look to the "Source File" in addition to "Tape" when doing a conform.

EDL Manager has been updated to allow for both Tape and File and will automatically use one then the other if found.

While this is a known issue, I can't speak to the roadmap as to when an update to DS will be. Third parties also need to be aware of this change in source identification.
