[Avid-L2] Re: FR Default Monitor Track for Digital Cut

Never really considered the issues of the guide in the timeline (but then I
rarely edit)

We import a guide track with audio from the offline for finishing of course
but that would always be removed for the layoff sequence.

It's no hardship to refer back to an earlier sequence to check the guide or
just drop it back in the source monitor for a quick check.

But I'd not have the guide in the final sequences. There's always the risk
somebody else will need to do an export a few days later and by accident
enable it.

Not easy to notice on an export that you've just undone all your online
work!

But it seems this is just the sort of Video post feature Avid should be
dealing with.

Why not have a completely separate sequence option that allows linking to a
Guide picture and sound clip. And then an option that allows you to toggle
that during playback.

Not shown or part of the timeline so no confusion there. Never able to be
enabled for export or digital cut.

Just a background alternative playback source.

Maybe even realtime low quality picture in picture in the sequence monitor
or ganged to playback in the source monitor but whatever as a separate
sequence function.

Just an idea..
