I've altered my Offloader application.
It now not only offloads cards to harddisk, it also transcode QT files (like
DSLR assets) to Avid MXF.
So, no import time, no heavy AMA work, you'll end up with plain MXF files.
Just open the media tool and drag them in a bin.
Since it uses QT for an inbetween, there is also no problem with RGB to 709
conversion, since the Avid codec takes care of that.
So the idea is, shoot, offload on location to back up/free your cards, and
before you are home all your stuff is ready to use in native Avid format.
(oh, and since QT is involved anyways, you could also render to ProRes...)
And (at least for now), it's free.
