[Avid-L2] MBP 10.6.3 MCsoft 5 Read Only on Media folders Ignored by Avid

In the past on macs I've put a dummy Avid MediaFiles Folder and OMFI MediaFiles Folder and made the permissions read only on the start up drive to avoid putting media there.  Tonight on  MBP 17 inch OS 10.6.3 MCsoft 5 I did the same thing but avid still saves media to the startup drive  WTF?  Perhaps I'm missing the obvious here.  I know I can filter the system and launch drives in media creations settings but I like this method to make it more idiot proof.
