[Avid-L2] Does Sony Clipbrowser need to be installed for XDcam ex to work with AMA?

Found a couple XDCam ex clips but couldn't get ama to work pointing to the folder containing the BPAV folder.  I downloaded Sony clipbrowser ver 2.6 for mac.  I was able to see the clips and export an aaf for avid and that worked.  After a few restarts toggling ama off and on I was then able to see the original BPAV clips via ama.  Just curious if my installing the Sony clipbrowser software would have anything to do with the ama beginning to work.  It's quite possible my initial ama failure was operator induced but curious if the extra Sony software added something ama might use.
