[Avid-L2] Re: Stereoscopic Monitors

I can only attest to the Nitris DX going to a JVC monitor as that is what I have worked with. Passive glasses.

The "good" thing is that you can choose from the three current "standards" on either the Avid side or the monitor side.

You have three choices right now:

1: Over / Under. The top half of the frame is the left eye, and the bottom half is the right eye.

2: Side by Side. The left half of the frame is the left eye, and the right half is the right eye. (Currently preferred as horizontal resolution is apparently less discernible than vertical resolution.)

3: Interlaced. Field one of the frame is the left eye, and the Field two is the right eye.

This is the beauty of "standards", we can have a lot of them.

Not to worry though, eventually Dolby will decide the standard and we will all pay them a small price per content to be the arbiters of said standard. (Bitter, party of one)

I just want to know how to emulate the Dolby mafia's business model and then I won't care what folks actually think or watch. :-(
