Re: [Avid-L2] OT: Corrupted jpegs

A card is never erased. There are plenty of software recovery programs that will pull them off the card even if it's been formatted. I had a CF card crap out on me with 152 photos on it. I shoot RAW+Jpeg. I don't remember the software by name. I got it off CNET, it cost $30 and with in 15 mins I had all 304 images copied over. Most recovery programs will show you what it can recover without paying for it. Once you find one that works, pay for it and don't loose the installer.

Subject: [Avid-L2] OT: Corrupted jpegs

I recently transferred some jpeg pictures from a digital camera CF card via
a laptop and wireless network to my Avid system media drive. The files
seemed to transfer, and even now the files appear with the file sizes (2-4
Mb each) intact. The files will not open on the Avid machine or any other I
have tried...previewing the files shows what appears to be one or two
pixels. I typically do not transfer large files this way, and surely know
better than to erase the CF card prior to confirming the actual image.
Alas, I did erase the card this time.

As I said, the file sizes show up as 2-4 Mb even now. Is anyone familiar
with a means of "repairing" corrupt jpeg data?
