Not really. When you decompose, you should make sure "all clips in a group" is deselected. That way you only end up capturing what you actually need. This in no way affects TC errors or mislabeled tapes.

Where it does help is with match framing back which gets reduced to one step from two. In other words, when you hit matchframe your clip loads. With grouped clips, hitting matchframe loads the group then you have to hit matchframe on that group to get your original source.

Another way it helps is with relinking issues if you have multiple versions of cuts you are onlining. Also helps with merging color corrections which can get goofed by group clips.

The solution to bad TC and mislabeled tapes involves an attitude adjusting 2x4 board about 3 feet long...
