Well, that's not possible if you don't have a deck template to do this - or does the deck template allow this? Is it supported by Avid?!?
AFAIK you have to control via FireWire if you're capturing via FireWire (same issue with Avid & FCP). I've heard some time ago that some cool guys tweaked a deck template to capture via HD-SDI and control via FireWire (for a HVR-M35, but never seen it myself) so it should be possible the other way round!?!

But why don't you capture via HD-SDI and control via RS-422? That's a reliable SOLUTION but you'll need at last a Mojo DX for that. Imho the Mojo DX is a very cool, high quality equipment with great features and absolutely worth its money)
