Sounds to me like that is just a matter of time. At some point, I'd think
there will be enough rules-of-thumb to shoot stuff like regular dialogue
scenes in 3D.

Film was doing fine without color and surround sound, or even without
digital sound. In the nineties lots of films were advertised as having
digital sound, with just a small percentage of the cinemas actually being
able to present these films in DTS or SRD or SDDS. And eventually, after 10
or 15 years, even the lowest budget one-actor monologue films are being
released with 5.1 digital soundtracks. Just saying.
