For those of you neck-deep in the RED world, there are two very important days coming up.
Recently, the ASC/BSC held a Camera Assessment Series with published results. As with any camera test series that I have witnessed, it generated considerable information, and much disagreement and confusion. One of the outcomes is that Jim Jannard and team at RED are holding two "RED Days" at Ren-Mar Studios in LA. The details for the day in January is below - reprinted from an email that Jim Jannard sent to the CML-Digital-Raw list.
"OK... here is the deal.
RED Day is Jan. 16th at Ren-Mar Studios in Los Angeles. We will have 3 sessions, the 1st being for ASC members only. Each member may register and bring two guests each. The time will be from 8am-noon. A second session will be from 1-3pm for CML members and special invited guests. A 3rd session will be from 5-8pm for RED ONE owners.
We will show EPIC and Scarlet prototypes, RED ONEs with Mysterium-X sensors, new accessories... and post solutions, including some new wrinkles. We will show 4K footage on a Sony 4K projector and will also show RED footage film prints. We will NOT be showing re-graded footage from the CAS test. Instead, we will be showing how to expose and post RED footage properly.
At 11am, we will begin a Q, A & Suggestion session lasting until noon... we promise to listen. We are holding this AFTER you see what we are doing in the off chance that some of your questions will be answered and suggestions already realized.
There will be RED supporters showing their skills including Lucas from Assimilate, Michael from Lightiron and Neil from Hollywood DI to name just a few.
Registration must be made in advance (by Jan. 12th) and ID shown at the gate to get in. Please contact kelly@red.com to begin the registration process.
Jim"
The second day is dedicated to the Reduser.net community and is a much more "open" day, and it is being held at Ren-Mar as well on February 13. For anybody interested in coming in from out of town for either of these events, please read this thread on Reduser that I started:
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39074
I'd be happy to extend the offer in that thread to any of my friends on the Avid-L2 as well. Both days will be fantastic days with a ton of good information and direct access to almost all of the RED team. Plus, the social events that I am planning that I mention in the thread will be fun. ;)
Best,
Lucas
