Re: [Avid-L2] Re: And Now a Word About Online Finishing

Two points come to mind:

- There is quite a hump to leave your editing app, migrate the entire
sequence into a different box, and then bring it back. That hump costs
you time, money and aggravation, of which you could save 100 % if you
can get it done in the editing app.

- Avid, as far as I can tell, will have a real hard time addressing
most of the points brought up in this thread, because it would mean
that they'd have to rewrite the compositing part of the app from the
ground up. What they have now seems beyond salvation. I don't see how
they will have enough incentive, as in: revenue, to do that. (Pure
speculation on my part, of course.)

Nonetheless, the one big thing that Avid has going for itself is the
huge user base among professional editors. This won't last forever,
though.
