Actually I don't find that to be true with HD. Even with SD I've lately been pretty happy with the moves. Often the key is to add a slight Gaussian blur to knock down the heavy texture that's part of a high-res still. It doesn't make the image soft in video-land, but keeps it from scintillating during the move.

In any case, you're going off into the weeds. The point of the thread isn't that FCP is better or worse, merely that there is room for improving the model of a "finishing NLE". The advantage FCP does have is that the suite can be used by a set of specialists who each use the individual apps to their own strengths. OR - it can be used by a single, strong generalist who also can leverage the power of the suite.

Whether is not this is the best model is up for debate. The start of all of this was talking about whether there is room or need for an app like Mac Smoke. Seems like at least a few folks here feel that there is - and in a way that DS hasn't addressed for whatever reason. Whether or not they buy it is another issue, of course.
