Have a look at the http://www.avid.com/xdcam/ http://www.avid.com/p2 and
http://www.avid.com/ama sites
There is a lot of good info and whitepaperage on and linked to regarding
AMA and its flows.

Subject: [Avid-L2] AMA - Couple of questions
On this latest spot I am working on, shot on P2, I decided to try out
the AMA offline route to DS online/color finish. First of all, I am
impressed how "smart" the system is to recognize all the raw P2 files by
simply pointing at the drive. One thing I have noticed is that
performance of MC is a bit sluggish and stuttery when scrubbing
(especially in reverse) in the source window. That could be my system
too, as I am on a 2.5 year old dual 2.66ghz MacPro 4 gig ram and MC
3.5.1.
A couple of questions:
To finish on DS, I am assuming I still have to transcode to MXF from a
decomposed sequence, create an AFE of that sequence and go from there.
Am I missing a step?
Second, can I move around systems using AMA like I could in the past?
Meaning, I have the raw P2 files on an external FW drives and also on a
media drive in the MacPro that I am cutting on now. If I move the
project file to a laptop, for instance, can I relink everything to the
P2 files on the external FW drive and keep cutting on the road?
Thanks in advance.
Scott
