If you have Motion, you can create a QuickTime movie and export it  then import it into Avid

[Avid-L2] Smooth credit roll stop

 

Im trying to do a credit roll in MC 8.9.4.    I need credits to come up at speed and then last credit stops in middle of screen. Im trying to ease into the last position but every time I right click and assign a smooth out to that last keyframe, the first one becomes the same and I get a slow start.   What is the correct way to do this?

[Avid-L2] Re: Converting from FCPX to Avid Media Composer

 

I am using X for all my editorial now.  I have used Mr. Hodgetts solutions above and also washed through Resolve via fcpxml.  Nothing is perfect but gets you pretty close.


Just recently tried to move a Premiere mess over to X, but it was easier to start all over in X and gain speed that way.

I will say that I am 2/3 through an hour long doc on X and it has been quite a good experience.

Try limiting folder names to 8 characters and see if that makes a difference.  We found a bug (on Windows) when exporting to shared storage that TC is removed from batch exports with longer character names.

So I played around and found the Adobe Media Encoder strips the Time Code or it's just not supported in the .mp4 file format or how AME makes it.  The .movs are created quickly with mp4toQT.  Too bad the source .mp4s don't maintain the original file time code.  Is this just H_264/mp4 doesn't support time code?

 

At any rate I have my go to QT Change and I just added the proper start time code and it perfectly matches the time code burned in by AME that was based on the original source file time code. 

 

I now have a new tool to employ from my video tool shed that I had forgotten about.  ;-)

 

I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but that's what VideoToolShed is for.  I perused the web site and there's all kind of fun things many of which are free.  Glad I refreshed my awareness of all the fun stuff.

In this case, it's true the essence is the same, but the container is not. Changing the extension does not do anything except changing the extension.

Getting away with it is not the same as doing it right.

(My Mp4toQT app does it properly, without changing the content. IIRC the OP has that, so that's not the issue.)

I don't do a lot of experimentation with compression etc... but I am surprised how visible the difference is given the data rate is the same.



I would think Adobe Media Encoder 2015 would have very similar results to Avid using custom export/QT Engine.  Are there any under the hood tweaks I'm missing in AME?
