What are the options when it comes to attaching lenses to your iPhone?
Joke?

Re: [Avid-L2] Deleting Unneeded Audio Tracks From XDCam HD Footage
Don't use the MediaTool.
Just select the master clips and hit 'Delete'.
You'll be presented with a dialogue what tracks to delete.
(well, at least on PC, and from memory, only in the latests versions on Mac)
This will not only delete the soundtracks from disk, but also updates the
master clips.

[Avid-L2] Deleting Unneeded Audio Tracks From XDCam HD Footage
Hello all,
On my current project, XDCam HD discs have been shot and returned to me,
and are being interpreted by the Avid as having eight audio tracks. It
appears that the second four tracks are just mirrors of the first four,
so after ingesting each disc, I've been going into the Media Tool and
deleting tracks five to eight.
That's the way I've always done that sort of thing with tape-based
captures.
Thing is, if I now try to play any of the master clips, the Avid won't
play them back, because it can't find the audio files that relate to the
last four tracks of audio. I don't remember that being an issue with
tape-based captures.
It's not a huge deal, because I've laid out each disc in a sequence,
without the last four tracks of audio, and that plays back just fine. I
just come unstuck when I quickly want to matchframe a clip, which won't
then playback.
I guess the answer is to unlink each clip, modify the track to uncheck
A5-A8, but I'm dealing with an awful lot of clips here.
Is there merit in keeping the Avid working this way, or is it something
that Avid should/could have a look at for the next release/patch?

[Avid-L2] Re: MC 5.0.3.7 still memory issues
Friday I was using media tool on my mbp os 10.6.4 mc 5.0.3.7r and it would stop working after using it on a few different projects. Quiting mc didn't help. Only a mbp restart got it working. The problem repeated about every two project I media managed Sure seemed like a memory leak to me. I don't know if this is new behavior with 7r.

Re: [Avid-L2] Re: MC 5.0.3.7 still memory issues
I've found that the Soundflower plugin used by audio or screen capture
software can cause MC to hang while initializing audio. This happens
intermittently with different versions of MC.
Updated a Mac MC from 5.0.3.4 to 5.0.3.7r Friday and had this issue.
Removing /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext solved the problem.

Re: [Avid-L2] Re: MC 5.0.3.7 still memory issues
Spoke too soon.
Problems are still there, but in 5.0.3.0 the error comes AFTER trying to
ingest all clips.
Good thing, but i'm still missing 10 % of my clips..

Background
Avid-L was established in 1994 at Calvin College by Steven Koster.
It was created to be a forum for Avid users to meet, discuss, and share
information.
Avid-L quickly grew into the premiere on-line users group for
professional film and video editors. It was one of the earliest examples
of an Internet community, allowing hundreds of editors worldwide to
share their experiences and expertise with their peers. There was no
better place for a professional Avid editor to get such wealth of
informed professional advice.
At various times, individual subscribers volunteered services to the
group. Searchable archives were maintained by Germany's Berlin Users
Group as well as the UIUC. A tips & tricks list was posted by Andy
Birkhead of Innovative Edit. Wes Plate, a longtime contributor, not only
shared key techniques on his Web site, he also created a photo gallery
for members' portraits.
In 1997, several subscribers began a tradition of meeting in person at
the NAB trade show in Las Vegas. The first gatherings were organized by Jaime Fowler. In 1999,
Avid Technology itself began sponsoring these gatherings as an exclusive reception and seminar for Avid-L members only. In 2002, this changed to the "Avid Users Group" meeting.
By 1999, Avid-L boasted over 1600 subscribers, exhibiting a true
international scope with over 300 international members. The community
included participants from a wide variety of well-known corporate
organizations in broadcasting, technical, and content creation fields,
as well as and multiple local TV stations, colleges, and universities.
In 2000, Avid-L joined AvidProNet.com, and then, in 2002, was integrated
Into Avid.com.
In 2005 Due to problems with signal to noise ratio and abusive posters, the Avid-L2 was formed. A year later the Avid-L was discontinued by Avid.
At the middle of 2006, the L2 has around 1100 members, with plenty of "lurker only" members who simply use the web version of the list. The L2 is spam-free, by moderation and with Yahoo's tools and will remain that way. The integrated archives with both old L and L2 posts came on line recently as well at the University of Illinois. That can be found at http://archives.itg.uiuc.edu/avid/.
Cross-posting to the FCP-L is welcome, tho reply's will not flow back to either list necessarily- check your own email reply preferences. The Final Cut list is found at: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/FinalCutPro-L
Welcome, and Enjoy!
Extras!
With a Yahoo account tied to your subscription to the Avid-L2, you can use the web features of the Group.
Calendar Various Avid events are in the Calender. If you have an event you'd like posted, pull down and fill out the Calendar event request and send it to any Moderator
Database - The database area contains Avid Feature requests, Help Wanted, Freelance Listings and For Sale sections. Feel free to add your listings to any of these areas. Job Postings will remain up for 1 month. Please date all postings to the database areas, being pertinent is a good way to be.
Files- The files section contains various sundry files, including the latest Avid release notes. Check back often for changes.
Photos - Pictures of your Avid setup are welcome, or pictures relating to a post you need a photo to explain. Photos will be posted after moderator approval. Who knows, your picture might grace the front page for a while.
Links- Various helpful links, including direct links to Avid CPR releases can be found here, also the link to the archives.

[Avid-L2] Re: XDCAM HD 422 50M
The issue is only with the XDCAM HD 50Mb Over-Cranked - Slow Motion - video. The fast motion, under-cranked uses a full raster codec.
This is a thread on the topic:

All other XDCAM Codecs are fully supported.

Re: [Avid-L2] Re: MC 5.0.3.7 still memory issues
no idea about the memory leak, but both 5.0.3.7 and 5.0.3.5 messed up
transcoding / consolidating of GFcam HD material.
Also, .7 seems to do something strange, it refuses to start if i have
another (rather harmless) application running.
so, back to 5.0.3.0 for me...

Similar config, similar problem on the memory leak front. My projects are
large features. The current version still can't handle them correctly
without having chronic memory issues.
