Yes. The card is primarily aimed at PCs since Apple no longer sells new computers that are appropriate for this card. The card lacks an EFI which means that you get a black screen until the OS fully loads. This also prevents you from holding down the option key during boot to get a choice of boot disks. If that's an important feature to you, you should stick to Mac cards. A work around would be to hold on to your old card to pop in when you need to do that.

Is it the case with the RX580 that you get a black screen on boot up until it gets to the login screen? Is that because it is a PC card that hasn't been "flashed" for Mac?
