Doesn't its perceived value depend on whether you feel you will get $5000 a year value from being able to render four times faster than you can without it? You would need the hardware as well of course. So, assuming that is $3 K a box, you would need to spend around $30K. So, it's $10K a year of time savings or increased efficiency you are looking for; if you can't see a business case for it, don't buy it.

I had been very excited about this tool when initially announced. But after seeing the details and now the pricing, it feels like a throw back to the days before the open IO revolution.
We do not use Nexis. We use third party storage that emulates Avid. So I can not even consider this product. But, I can do a whole lot of what is offered by this tool for 0 extra dollars with what I do have with just a little ingenuity.
