SFPlayConsumer::Execute TIMEOUT is a pretty generic error, indicating that there was a stall in the pipeline somewhere between storage and display. Whatever caused the stall didn't register any specific errors, so the end-of-pipe just times out. Not a lot of useful debugging info in just that message. Simplifying the pipeline (e.g. disabling hw) can sometimes help narrow the cause down.

I've found quirky playback issues often go away after toggling the Hardware of and on using the Hardware enable button over the timeline.
I've even had situations where restarting Avid didn't stop playback from stalling but toggling hardware off and on did. For trouble shooting I'd suggest turning the hardware off and see if the error still happens.

He does not render, as he does not apply effects. And he's playing back sequences from his work. Can you elaborate how this could help troubleshooting?(Ok, if it's on 'certain' points of the clip, this might help, and that's what i'm going to try tomorrow to pinpoint it…)

Did he already try marking ins and outs in various locations and playing in to out? Same question with turning monitoring off on some tracks. Might also clear any existing renders. Just the basic stuff that we all occasionally forget to try. JB

Question from a friend. He's working on an old (2011) powermac with a Mojo DX. got no specs (yet)MC 8.5.2
Editing AMA linked clips from a EOS C300 Mark II, codec:AVC High 422 Intra
On playing a sequence, beach ball appears and after a few secs an error: "SFPlayConsumer::Execute TIMEOUT"
But the strange thing is, after transcoding to DNxHD 185X there is the same problem. Can this be content related? (It seems to be on 'some' clips from 'some' shooting days, but happens on high motion shots as well as on talking heads.
Could this be a solution?

Another thing, playing back RT audio dissolves longer than about 4 secs MC stalls.
I'm going to have a look at the set tomorrow, but would appreciate if I could fake that I know what I'm talking about, so any pointers are welcome.
