Re: [Avid-L2] Application Manager issues?

I recently, last week renewed my support on two licenses.  One is a software licenese and one a dongle.  Both are perpetual.  I gather from your post that the software license needs to be deactivated when I need to update which I have no plans to do right away.  What is the process for a dongle based system?  Can I really deactivate a dongle?  I recall from previous posts on the subject of upgrades/renewals the my products page will not reflect my current active state of support until I activate and deactivate/upgrade.

What is the proper procedure to have the my products page reflect my current renewed status and how do I get it to provide me the link to the dongle updater file?

I was also surprised when I renewed last week using the renewal links on my products page that after checking out I received no confirmation email from the Avid Store or whatever entity governs the renewal process.  Is that typical.  I figure that the checkout page said I had purchase the support contracts so I should be okay but a little confirmation email would seem like a pretty typical approach to this.

Normally when the appman syncs and spins it is because the App helper is having an issue.

Do the following depending on OS:

Win 7 and 8

Stop in Task Manager:

AvidApplicationManager.exe

AvidAppManHelper.exe

Delete folders:

C:\ProgramData\Avid\AppManager\Cache

C:\ProgramData\Avid\AppManager\Db

C:\ProgramData\Avid\Licenses

C:\ProgramData\Avid\Common

Launch (in this order)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Avid\Application Manager\ AvidAppManHelper.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Avid\Application Manager\ AvidApplicationManager.exe

MAC 10.8.x – 10.10.x

Stop in Activity Monitor:

AvidAppManager

AvidAppManHelper

Delete folders:

HD/Library/Caches/Avid/AppManager/Cache

HD/Library/Caches/Avid/AppManager/Db

HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Licenses

Launch (in this order)

Applications/Avid/Application Manager/AvidAppManHelper

Applications/Avid/Application Manager/AvidApplicationManager

Also note that....

If you just renewed your Upgrade & Support plan recently, you should deactivate/activate the license in AppMan in order to update the license to the new Support & Upgrade plan date.

It is NOT necessary, however, to update your license if you are not performing a software update. I.e you renewed your plan say in November of 2015 to Nov of 2016 but still plan to run 8.3 for example.  If you are on 8.3 and renewed your plan as I stated, and now you want to upgrade from say 8.3 to 8.5, then you must perform the deactivate/activate the license in order to update the license to the new date.

If your upgrade and support plan is successfully renewed, but you are not going to upgrade your software version at this  time, you do not need to deactivte/activate your license now but will at some point throughout the plans year if you upgarde the software.

Bottom line....

****   Licenses only need to be updated when you have renewed your upgrade and support plan and are performing a software upgrade to a version that was released after your previous upgrade and support plan expired. ****
